The structural steel which will be visible in the finished house, and therefore was fabricated and painted by a speciality metal shop, was installed this week. The structural/decorative steel includes four cruciform columns (shown here) supporting a long horizontal beam in the living room and four cruciform columns on the porch supporting the MBR above. The pieces were installed by a full crew and crane, and then fastened, and in some cases, welded, to the structural steel that was previously installed. Framing can now proceed in these areas.
