For durability and to minimize the risk of leaks over the long-term, a Kemper resin-based liquid roofing system is being used in all the flat roof areas. The resin is spread as a liquid and bonds directly to the substrate, creating a seamless (!!) UV-stable membrane.
Here, where the flat roof will also be a rooftop deck, porcelain pavers on a pedestal grid with integrated hydronic snow-melt tubing will sit directly on top of the Kemper membrane.
The step-by-step process...
Clockwise from the upper-left: a layer of plywood sheathing is set; tapered sleepers to set the pitch for water shedding are installed and then filled with closed-cell spray foam insulation; another layer of plywood goes on top and the joints are taped and Kemper primer is applied; the Kemper liquid resin is spread.
