For the finished roof deck surface we are using ceramic tiles set on a pedestal system directly on top of the waterproof Kemper roof membrane.
We used a snow-melting pedestal system to provide continuous access to the hot tub and to minimize flat-roof snow-load through the winter. The system allows for hydronic tubing to be run through insulated trays under the ceramic pavers. The house boilers will, via a heat exchanger, maintain a warm flow of glycol through the tubes to warm the pavers and to keep snow from accumulating on the walking surface.

If you don't click through to read the whole post, you will miss out on the snow-melting pedestal details!
